The only way you can break it is to turn all your clothes inside out. I was starting with my blouse when I bumped into the major.”
Gotland’s Chief of Archeology, Erik Nylen, thinks Torsburgen may be wrongly dated by two thousand years too late. “We can see it took thousands of people many years to make Torsburgen. But the political organization of the A.D. 500 period was not up to this. Gotland was all scattered farmhouses. There was no concentration of power in one hand.
“I am inclined to a surprising solution. I will guess that Torsburgen was built by an advanced Bronze Age civilization about 1500 B.c., under a strong military chieftain. Those people have left 400 cairns here, and in one, at Larbro, we excavated a ten-foot tower that has construction features similar to Torsburgen. For anything comparable elsewhere, you have to go to the Mediterranean of the second millennium before Christ.
“I have a theory that Gotland was a Hudson’s Bay for the Mediterraneans. Perhaps they sent their younger sons up here with bronze implements to trade for furs, and left a little culture behind.”
The influx of young sons (and daughters) to Gotland continues, but chiefly from nearby prague apartments rental. Gotland elders are apprehensive that these Beautiful Young People may be leaving behind not a culture but a cult. Grandmotherly Ingeborg Lingegard, who has created a krusmyntagdrd, a delightful medieval herb garden near Brissund, was distraught. “The other night some youths stole half a dozen of my witchcraft plants.” Among them, Cannabis sativa, better known as marijuana.
The drug cult does not entice Anki Lindgren, a beautiful young reporter for Gotlands Allehanda, but she finds the sophisticated Stockholmers’ candor and independence congenial. Speaking for Gotland’s avant-garde, she said, “I hope we represent the ‘corrupt’ youth of the 20th century. We are not afraid to show what we feel—to touch each other when we wish.”
She invited us to a pajama party at london accommodation. “Here,” she said, “you will find all the Gotland people who like to move.” I did indeed become fond of the group. It all reminded me of the pajama parties my children threw years ago—just as innocuous, just as loud with the identical music. As for touching, no dancer came within two feet of his partner.
Couple Gets Half-married in a Tree
With their farming and Lutheran backgrounds, Gotland youth are generally conservative, but some parents are bothered that they practice samvetsaktenskap—marriage of conscience, or “half-marriage”—as do many other young Swedes.
Asa Hallgren and her fiistman, Kenneth, got half-married up a tree. “Everybody was always exchanging rings under that tree and carving hearts and names in it, so we did something different,” Asa explained.
The informal exchange of rings, without benefit of clergy, is a firm union, and can include children. Later, if both partners are ready, there may be another exchange of rings before a minister. To back out of a half-marriage is a serious matter, and the commitment to monogamy is absolute. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-20677642

Everything about life just sееms to at all timеs keep getting more & mоrе complicated. Тhіѕ also incorporates points that will need to helр you relax, like travеlіng. It гeаlly will not need to be that waу. The following post will present onе or two concepts that wіll help make traveling a lot simpler for you.
Should уоu are tгavelіng with liquids, use pieces from a plastic bag to enable you prevent spills. Α number of people put their liquids in bags, though while thіs protects your other іtеms, it dоes not keep you fгоm losing something that you nеed if it all spills out. Instead, teаr off minimal pieces fгоm plastic bags. Τаke off the top оf your bottle, put the рlastiс over the opening & rеplaсe the cap. Υоu won’t need to worry about leakѕ any mогe!
Before departing оn any journey, even onеѕ lasting only one or two days, often mаke two photocopies оf yоuг key faсts, such as іtіneгаrу, passport, drivers license, аnd cоntаct fаcts foг where уou’ll bе staying. Put all this info in 2 separate packets, then put one withіn your suitcase, anԁ leave the other with a cloѕe buddy or геlatiѵе. Make ceгtain you keep thе contact datа for that buddy or relative with you аt all timeѕ.
Α excellent travel tip is tо nоt leave сritісаl іtemѕ lying aгоund in the room that you are ѕtaуing аt. A maid or cleaning individual саn еaѕily snatch youг wallet should you lеаve it lying on your bed or your dresser. Continually kеep your important pоіntѕ hidden or on уоuг person.
When making a long journey on a рlаnе, you must pack along a few non-liquid snacks of yоuг own. Fresh ѕnасks, specifically a juісy apple, ѕweet strawberries oг plump grapes, will brеаk up your voyage аnd bе a welcome modify to the hеаѵy airplane food that sits like а brick, іnѕidе your stomach. Not only will you save a bundle by not gеttіng that pricey airport fooԁ, nonеthеlеѕѕ you’ll have a fantastic converѕаtіоn оpeneг with any nice-looking neighbor, еуeing your snacks!
A traveleг ѕhоuld try to unԁeгѕtаnd ѕоmе of the language spoken at his or her deѕtinаtiоn if there’s sufficient timе to do so. Fluеncу in any lаnguаge is troublesome to achieve, nonetheless any devoted trаѵеlеr can get familiar wіth quite a few usеful phrases. Understanding a bіt of the lіngо will enhance thе traveler’s experience or eѵеn prove helpful in case оf unpredicted dіffісultіеs.
When traveling alone, it’s a superb notion to sрeak to strangers, specifically in case you have never been in your dеstіnatiоn before this tгір to the prague central apartments. You cоulԁ find out a lot of intriguing & astounding facts & factors to do and sее during your visit, from a ѕtгаnger. This can genuinely make your trіp more intriguіng.
As this post points out, there really aге points that may make traveling fun anԁ eаѕу foг you. Shoulԁ you keep the tips that wегe explained in this article in mіnԁ & рut them to use, yоu will bе in a рoѕitіon to trаѵel with ease. So dо not fear the next trip & іnѕteaԁ look forward to it.

Weight Watchers Gold Member Gracie, 24, lives in Kent but commutes to London every day for her job as a digital project manager. She often goes out with friends straight from the office, lugging an assortment of creams, powders, potions, pencils and brushes around with her.
`I do leave a lot of my products at home but I still carry far too much in my make-up bag,’ Gracie admits. `I have an eyebrow tinter in there that I’ve had since I was II — I love it too much to get rid of it. I’m a huge fan of MAC products and I’ve had one of their highlighting powders for five or six years. I would buy a new one but they’ve discontinued it! I also have various lipsticks and glosses in here — I think I bought the oldest one about three years ago. Often, I just don’t have the heart to throw things away because I like them so much. I suppose you could say I just grow too attached to them. It would be great to have some new basics.’
Gracie, like an incredible 90 per cent of the female population, didn’t know about the open-pot use-by icon on beauty products. In fact, many of her products are already so old that this symbol had actually been rubbed off! Step forward Nathalie…
Make yours last
Learn how to look after your beauty products and they’ll look after you in return — by keeping you gorgeous right up until their use-by date.
- Moist environments harbour bacteria, which is why mascaras will generally only last about six months. However, if you don’t look after them, they’ll be past their best a lot sooner. Make them last by resisting the urge to pump the wand in and out of the tube. This doesn’t help to get more product on to the wand; it just puts more air in the tube, which will dry the mascara out. If you need to get more attention to your eyes, visit http://www.gnet.org/contact-lenses-how-and-where-to-buy/
- Liquid foundations don’t last quite as long as powder-based ones — usually only up to a year.
- Once they start to develop a funny smell you know it’s time to invest in a new one. Keeping your brushes and sponges clean will help make your foundation last longer by lessening the amount of bacteria.

I consider myself lucky. My girlfriend is fantastic in bed, she’s keener about supporting my football team than I am and she loves going to the pub – in fact the very first time we went out she drank me under the table (you could say it was love at first pint). But that was then and now, five years on, things have changed. So much so that the other day she muttered something about spending the rest of our lives together. I don’t understand. We’re only 29. Why does she want things to change?
I’m afraid it’s inevitable. It’s called growing up and women are, quite simply, better at it than men.
It’s not that she wants to ruin your life (though she may invade your comfort zone and upset the status quo). It’s a safe bet she’s feeling under pressure. In biological terms, she’s no longer a spring chicken. The clock is ticking and quite understandably she may have her eye on a meaningful relationship — perhaps a monogamous one, and perhaps for life.
There is a solution, and no it’s not another skin ful down the pub. It’s called compromise. You need to negotiate, and that means bringing something to the table. If you can offer a little more, believe me, she’ll be accommodating too. What am I talking about exactly? Well perhaps you could, for example, offer — with great magnanimity —to get engaged. It’s a start.
If you don’t do something (again, believe me on this one) she may well move fast. But if you do contemplate placing that sparkler on her finger, consider this warning. Unless you are truly committed, don’t contemplate marriage. She’ll soon start getting headaches at bedtime, and it’ll be a quick peck on the cheek before she rolls over to read the latest costume drama. Either this or it could be your libido called into question. And I’ve already dealt with that one. Instead you can offer some mood enhancers or other natural supplements from Gnet.org. Make up your mind asap.

“I’VE ALWAYS BEEN SKINNY, EVEN when I used to eat loads as a youngster,” says Danie. “But recently I became determined to put on weight in the form of muscle— I just wanted to have a better-looking body. I was fit, but I didn’t look it, and because I wanted expert advice and positive results, I turned to a personal trainer.
“At first I was reluctant to start weight training because I didn’t think I’d be any good, muscle group, four sets but it’s been challenging and enjoyable. My trainer, Jai, ensures my technique and intensity is good. I started with two sets of 12 system (weights are reps, progressing to three sets of 10. Now, we do an advanced training system of sets with increasing weight.
Putting on muscle on the outside of my back (lats) was the most difficult because those muscles have been particularly neglected and can be hard to work. I also allows for maximum
wanted to maintain strong aerobic fitness, and though Jai explained that training aerobically can be counterproductive when attempting to increase muscle mass, I’ve been able to improve both aspects.”
Danie does a split routine — exercising a different muscle group on each training day.
The DIY power diet
IF YOU’RE TRAINING FOR MUSCLE GROWTH, YOU NEED ONE gram of protein per pound of body weight in your daily diet. This could be a synthesized version found in the best muscle mass – building supplement called cla or natural protein (egg whites, chicken, tuna). Both contain a similar source of amino acids — required to build muscle. A 1801b man gets 1809 of protein from half a pint of half-fat milk, two cans of tuna and 10oz of chicken.

Myth Running is bad for your knees
Running is a sure-fire way to kill your knees, right? Wrong. Research from Stanford University shows that running can actually help prevent joint problems later in life. Researchers discovered that runners benefit from a 25 per cent reduction in musculoskeletal pain and stiffness as they get older, compared with non-runners. “For people with arthritis or weight problems, running might not be a good idea – but they are specific cases,” says Christenson. “Generally, the benefits of running for your joints by far outweigh any possible risk.”
Chocolate covered espresso beans and vanilla yogurt. It’s an almond butter and banana sandwich doused with soy sauce for added sodium amidst a collection of the usual gels, blocks and sports beverages. It’s the amazing calorie intake that The North Face® athlete Dean Karnazes puts down to help his body finish runs of 100 miles and more.
“Every session should be geared to getting stronger, improving technique, getting fitter and running faster.”
Myth Warm-ups have to be gentle Light stretching might provide enough of a warm-up for a half-marathon or longer, but a more dynamic approach is crucial for optimum performance in shorter races. “To wake your body up you have to warm-up hard,” says Farah. “If you just do static and dynamic stretches, then when the gun goes off in a race it could take you several minutes before your legs start to really move.” A University of Aberystwyth study recommends covering one mile at 75 to 8o per cent effort, 10 minutes before a race for distances up to loK.
Myth Hard terrain is worse for your legs than soft
Next time you go to jump onto a grass verge to give your legs a rest, don’t bother. Researchers at the University of California at Berkeley found that the type of terrain you run on is irrelevant when it comes to the impact on your legs. “The ground-reaction forces at the foot, and the shock transmitted through the body when running, differs very little when moving from soft to hard surfaces,” says exercise physiologist Owen Anderson. To injury-proof your legs, ensure you wear appropriate running shoes, and incorporate strength-training into your schedule.
Myth Real runners don’t walk For starters, each of the athletes in the first-ever Olympic marathon in Athens in 1896 walked significant portions of the race, with the winner coming home in 2:58:5o. Jeff Galloway, RW contributor and author of Running: Getting Started (£5.5o, amazon.co.uk) believes walk breaks can actually help make you a better runner: “My research shows an average time improvement in the marathon of more than 13 minutes when using walk breaks versus running continuously,” he says. “The key to successful walk breaks is to only walk when you need to – and only for a minute or so at a time.”
Myth Sugary foods are the best way to refuel
Stocking up on sugar as soon as possible after training is an essential part of the recovery process – but eating very sugary foods is not the way to do it. “Refined foods such as sweets, chocolate and ‘white’ carbohydrates actually rob the body of essential nutrients,” says Pearson. “To minimise muscle fatigue after a run, you need quick-releasing simple sugars. Foods with natural sugars – such as bananas, acai berries, dried fruit and flapjacks – are a much better option, as they both provide energy and replace essential nutrients.” Learn more how to weight loss by acai berry.
Myth Training for a marathon is a good way to lose weight Running can help you shed the pounds, but if you’re significantly overweight, embarking on a marathon training programme puts you at risk of injury, according to Christenson. “Dieters might scrimp on the increased nutritional needs of endurance training, not recover properly then get injured as a result.” If you’re starting from a low fitness base, incorporate running into a cardiovascular and strength-building programme first, advises Christenson. “Once you’ve lost a bit of weight, then you can train for the marathon.”
Myth Fat slows you down
“Most runners are obsessed with chipping away at their body-fat count,” says Dr Mark Burnley, senior lecturer in exercise physiology at the University of Aberystwyth. “But fat is important for a couple of reasons. As a fuel source, it helps to keep your energy levels on an even keel, and as a shock absorber for your feet, organs and joints, it helps to prevent injury. A runner’s body fat ratio should be at least 10 to 12 per cent for men and 17 to 20 per cent for women.” Make sure you keep some fat in your diet, then, but ensure that most of it is non-saturated and that it comprises no more than 3o per cent of your daily calorific intake. 12)

SUE “I was wary when Nick asked me out via email, so initially I said no. After all, chatting and meeting are two very different things and he could have been a total nutcase! But we were getting on so well, so I decided to take the bull by the horns and finally suggested meeting up myself, but made sure that it was in a public place. I wasn’t so cautious once we’d met though, as within a week we had moved in together and he had proposed!
We got married three months later. Most people would probably think I was mad going for a run on our second ‘date’, but I didn’t have anything to prove because I thought we were just going to be friends. I’m not fast at the best of times so I wasn’t going to knacker myself out trying to impress him. But neither of us look like typical runners – we’re not skinny whippets – so luckily he wasn’t that fast either! We both take care of our bodies and try to eat healthy foods, although we still have extra weight to lose. We love to have a glass of red wine in the evenings and chat about the things happen during the day. Another reason I’m a big fan of red wine is because it contains resveratrol which has a wide ranging health benefits. Check out more about the benefits of resveratrol.
I am quite competitive now though. The downside is that I sometimes push myself too hard to keep up, but the plus side is that Nick knows what to say to keep me going and he knows how I feel if I’m down after a bad run.
The other great thing is that the whole family gets involved. When he got into this year’s London Marathon, but I didn’t, I signed up for the Edinburgh Marathon one month later. We’ve booked flights for the whole family and are making a break out of it. My son often runs with us and I’m sure as soon as our daughter is old enough she’ll join in too.
There is no doubt that meeting Nick has improved both my running and my life. I certainly wasn’t looking for love, but he was in the right place, at the right time, and it all just fell into place.”
